Municipal Elections

General Election & Voter Registration Information

The next General Election will be held November 5, 2024.

The General Municipal Election is held in Grover Beach on the first Tuesday (after the first Monday) in November of even-numbered years and is consolidated with the County of San Luis Obispo. The City Clerk serves as the City’s Election Official and, in compliance with the California Elections Code, administers all municipal elections for elected and appointed officials.
General Election results may be found on the County Clerk Recorder website

On March 28, 2022 the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 22-02 which changed the City's "at-large" election system to a "district-based" system in which each Council Member seat is elected by the voters in the district in which the candidate resides.  The office of Mayor still remains directly elected "at-large" for a two-year term. The office of Council Member is a four-year term, with terms expiring at staggered intervals. On June 27, 2022 the City Council adopted Resolution No. 22-30 approving and establishing a Citywide Governance Policy affirming the value of at-large governance of the City.

For the November 2024 Election Districts 3 and 4 will be up for election.
