The Support Services Division is led by Commander Bryan Millard, who oversees the Detective and Records Bureaus, Communications Center, and a range of administrative assignments. The Support Services Division currently has 7 personnel assigned to it, including 1 Commander, 1 Detective Sergeant, 2 Detectives, 1 Police Services Analyst, and 2 Records / Property Technicians.
The Detective Bureau has a complex range of responsibilities, which include following up on criminal incidents from the Patrol Bureau, initiating major case investigations to confront growing crime trends, attempting to locate reported missing persons, and ensuring regulatory compliance by the cannabis industry, alcohol establishments, tobacco retailers, massage establishments and registered sexual offenders. Services Analyst who focuses on analyzing crime trends and producing up-to-date crime statistics for use by all police department personnel.
The Grover Beach Records and Property Bureau is staffed by two Records/Property Technicians. The Records/Property Technicians catalog and file all police department reports, citations and court notices. They handle all public records requests and provide excellent customer service to individuals that come to the police department for assistance.
The Pismo Beach Communications Center, commonly referred to as Dispatch, handles the Police Department's calls for service. Dispatchers take in 911 and non-emergency calls for the City of Grover Beach 24 hours a day. In 2021, our department began consolidating communication center services with the City of Pismo Beach. This collaboration between agencies offers both departments the opportunity for a more cohesive and robust working relationship while increasing information-sharing capabilities between the two agencies.
