Be Prepared
You need to prepare yourself and your family to be self-sufficient. During a major disaster, you could be on your own for up to 72 hours without utilities or water.
Please consider having at least two emergency supply kits, one full kit at home and smaller portable kits in your workplace or vehicle.

Grover Beach businesses and residents are cautioned to be better prepared for potential flooding by placing sandbags along their property.
Empty Sandbags
In advance of major storm events, the City of Grover Beach provides empty sandbags and sand at the Sandbag Fill Station located in front of our Public Works Department Corporation Yard, 1150 Farroll Road, Grover Beach. Citizens are requested to bring their own shovels. Citizens may fill up to 20 sandbags per household. Empty sandbags may also be purchased at local hardware stores. For more information, please call the Public Works Department at (805) 473-4520.
Filling Sandbags
Sand for the sandbags may be obtained at the Grover Beach Corporation Yard, 1150 Farroll Road, or from the excess sand blown onto the streets west of Highway One: 1) along West Grand Avenue near the main entryway to Pismo State Beach, and 2) in Oceano on Pier Avenue near the main entryway to Pismo State Beach and the nearby side streets. Do not gather sand directly from the beach.
If you are loading sandbags along the street, please be cautious. Make sure the hazard lights on your vehicle are on, close vehicle doors, and be observant of oncoming traffic or other activity in the area.
