Grover Beach City Council Seeks Public Participation to Help Determine FY 2021-23 Goals

Every two years, the Grover Beach City Council carries out a goal-setting process to establish priorities for making Grover Beach an even better place to live, work, and play. Public input is always a formative component of the Council’s prioritization of resources towards major City goals that will positively impact the daily lives of Grover Beach community members. Given the significant challenges brought about by the social and economic impacts of COVID-19, as well as the recent passage of Measure F-20 by Grover Beach voters to generate additional funds for City initiatives, public input is now more important than ever.

“We are looking to the community to help us answer the question, ‘What are the most important things the City should accomplish over the next three years?’” said Mayor Jeff Lee. “Our Council places a high value on public participation, and we encourage our community to weigh in on this topic and help shape the future of our City.”

To this end, Grover Beach is conducting an online community priorities survey which takes only minutes to complete. Responses are requested by 5 PM on Friday, January 22. The City is also holding a virtual community forum to provide an opportunity for real-time, interactive feedback on community priorities. The forum will be held on Thursday, January 28 from 6-8 PM via Zoom. Pre-registration is encouraged.

All public input gathered through the online survey and virtual forum will help inform the City Council when they meet in February to set goals and priorities for Fiscal Years 2021-23. Through its budget process, the Council will allocate the resources necessary to achieve the objectives set forth by the community, such as expanding street improvement programs, continuing robust support for local businesses and economic development, advancing solutions for housing and homelessness in Grover Beach, and adding resources to public safety services.

The City’s current budget can be found on the Grover Beach website. The new budget proposal will be presented to the City Council in June 2021 with additional opportunities for public input.
