Grover Beach Community Members Are Invited to Join Mentone Basin Park Fence Painting Party on Feb. 5

Mentone Park Fence Painting

The City of Grover Beach is partnering with the Rotary Club to host a neighborhood fence painting event to refurbish the Mentone Basin Park fence on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The City and Rotary Club encourage all members of the community—from families, to local businesses and clubs—to show their love for Grover Beach by participating and volunteering in painting the Mentone Basin Park fence.

“The City and Rotary Club do a phenomenal job at connecting residents with ways to volunteer and participate in City events,” said Mayor Jeff Lee. “It’s great to see members of the community take the initiative in helping to refresh local hot spots just like this. Improving our parks is an action that is going to continue to positively impact residents and the community for generations to come.”

Those interested in attending the event can gather on the corner of Trouville Avenue and South 14th Street on the southeast side of the park next to the banner (shown here). Painting will take place from approximately 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and paint and paint brushes will be provided. Participants are highly encouraged to bring gloves and painters clothing since the paint will be a permanent solution. Mask wearing is also strongly recommended as participants may be in close proximity to one another. To show appreciation for taking the time to volunteer, participants will also be treated to a free hot dog BBQ lunch on behalf of the Rotary Club from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Formal registration will be done on site but RSVPs are encouraged by phone at (805) 473-4580 or at the Recreation Department located in City Hall. Please note that visitors are required to wear a face covering while at Grover Beach Community Center, 1230 Trouville Avenue.

“The City is delighted to partner with the Rotary Club once again to better a beloved City location,” said Parks & Recreation Director Kathy Petker. “Now that we are able to have safe outdoor in-person events, it will be great to see the community joining together for a good cause like sprucing up a community park. Having community participation will be the key to our success with this project.”

Grover Beach residents can find out more information about the event by viewing the flyer. Residents can also follow the City of Grover Beach on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Nextdoor for updates.
