How can we keep pollution out of local streams and the ocean?
Water from rain and human activities either seeps into the ground or “runs off” to lower areas, making its way into local streams or the ocean. On its way, runoff water can pick up and carry many substances that pollute water. Some pollutants (pesticides, fertilizers, oil, and soap) are harmful in any quantity. Other pollutants (sediment from construction, pet waste, grass clippings, and leaves) can harm our streams and ocean. You can help, please see: "Simple Pollution Solutions"
